2 Application Specific Traffic Classification
ISSUE:
Since different services have different networking needs (VoIP requires low latency, low jitter and reasonable packet loss, and Video requires reasonable latency, low jitter and extremely low packet loss), the ability to properly identify applications and handle them accordingly is key.
ACCEDIAN'S APPROACH
Accedian is able to identify each application based on Layer 2, Layer 3 and Layer 4 header information and map the applications to the appropriate class of service. Accedian’s granular traffic classification can even uniquely identify most Layer 4 application protocols.

4 In-service Throughput Testing
ISSUE:
Typical Through put testing techniques, such as RFC 2544, are considered ‘disruptive’ tests and can only be executed when customer services are not running. This means when a customer calls in to say their service is not performing as expected, the service provider needs to take the customer out of service to identify the issue.
ACCEDIAN'S APPROACH
Accedian’s solutions deliver non-disruptive validation of the service, including capacity and throughput by using end-customer traffic as part of the test pattern and generating supplemental test traffic in real-time to ‘fill out’ the idle gaps, thereby testing the customer service performance during normal business hours, without taking the customer out-of-service.

5 Hierarchical Quality of Service
ISSUE:
Traditional, single level, QoS solutions classify and schedule traffic based on the CoS (ie: VoIP), but cannot also schedule based on customer service packages/bundles (ie: Gold, Silver, Bronze). This results in unused/idle bandwidth which cannot be re-used by the customer for lower priority traffic.
ACCEDIAN'S APPROACH
Accedian’s Business Services solutions provide a second level of traffic shaping within a customer’s services bundle to enable sharing of contracted bandwidth (CIR) between various CoS in the Business Services bundle. With Accedian Business Services, customers with unused high priority service bandwidth will be able to use this bandwidth exclusively for their own lower priority classes within the same service bundle, thereby maximizing their purchased bandwidth while preserving the QoS requirements demanded by their Business Services.


6 Lowest Latency/ Jitter Solution
ISSUE:
Many business critical applications require strict latency and jitter requirements. Failure to meet these requirements can violate SLA commitments; but latency and jitter are natural by-products of classic store and forward queuing techniques

What is needed is to eliminate or minimize the store-and-forward impact on the network. Accedian has developed its Business Services solutions to provide real-time queuing which does not use store-and-forward, but allows control of CIR/CBS per CoS and Strict Priority scheduling to ensure critical traffic is transmitted with minimal or no delay.
