Job Description:
Accedian Networks has an immediate opening for a Product Engineer – a multi-faceted position where you will be involved in the planning, development and execution of Accedian's product line strategy, with a main focus on our hardware platforms. Reporting to the Product Manager, the successful candidate is a dynamic, highly motivated team player with an innate ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing company.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, define and document hardware product requirements based on market requirements and industry standards
- Obtain feedback from customers, partners and the sales force, and translate them into internal feature requests and operational objectives
- Detail functional specifications for new products
- Participate in gathering, tracking and prioritizing product feature requests
- Represent the customer (product owner) in development teams
- Provide technical consultant services for internal customers (sales team, customer support, R&D)
- Interface with technology partners on technical aspects of product development, evaluation and integration
- Participate in the RFI/RFP answering process by providing technical expertise
- Work with Product Marketing to ensure the alignment of marketing materials
- Provide training on new product platforms to technical support and sales engineers
Requirements/ Qualifications:
- A University degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
- 7+ years experience in the telecommunications industry, of which 3+ years in hardware (electronics and mechanical) design, qualification and certification of embedded systems
- Expertise in defining product functionality and customer use cases
- Excellent knowledge of telecommunication standards
- Familiarity with Carrier Ethernet specific standards is a definite asset
- Ability to grasp and understand complex technical architectures
- Experience answering RFP/RFI in the telecommunications industry is considered and asset
- Familiarity with the Agile principles/Scrum methodology
- Self-starter with strong leadership skills and comfort in a fast-paced technology start-up environment
- Ability to dynamically prioritize workload to reflect the company’s evolving business objectives
- Exemplary listening and relationship management skills and a reputation for building collaborative relationships with customers, partners and colleagues
- Ability to evaluate and clearly communicate (verbal and written) technology concepts and strategy
- Ability to effectively present information to internal customers and management
- A team player with a superior attention to detail
- Strong analytical, and problem solving skills, with an ability to think outside the box
