Ethernet performance specialist sees strong 2010 ahead as solutions address surging global demand
Montreal, Canada; January 6, 2009 – Accedian Networks ™, the leading provider of Packet Performance Assurance ™ solutions for telecom, cable and wireless communications providers, announced 2009 as its fourth consecutive year of 100%+ revenue growth, more than tripling 2008 sales. Backed by strong global demand for Ethernet business services and wireless backhaul for 3G & 4G (WiMAX, LTE) networks, the company also doubled its Year-over-Year (YoY) shipment of EtherNID® & MetroNID® packet assurance demarcation units to a customer base now totalling over 150 leading service providers.
With solutions that establish and assure Quality of Service (QoS) over packet-based networks, Accedian Networks has addressed a growing need faced by operators: to quickly deploy high-bandwidth connectivity to cell towers and businesses while maintaining the low latency, jitter, packet-loss and high availability required by demanding mobile and enterprise applications. By using Accedian solutions, providers can quickly enter these fastest growing markets in telecom with performance-differentiated offerings – without replacing existing infrastructure.
Responding to continued growth and profitability, Accedian staffed up strategically in 2009, adding nearly 50% to its employee base. Operationally, the company has certified additional contract manufacturers and signed on over a dozen additional Value Added Resellers (VARs) to provide regional customer support in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe. Development efforts have also kept in step, with a major new product announcement planned for CTIA in Las Vegas this March.
Despite the 2009 downturn, the segments addressed by Accedian’s solutions are experiencing phenomenal growth. Infonetics Research forecasts the demand for backhaul equipment serving advanced wireless devices such as Apple’s iPhone and the Motorola Droid will double between 2008 and 2013, while the Vertical Systems Group estimates Business Ethernet ports grew 43% last year. In turn, customers have recorded up to 65% increase and revenue and profit after deploying Accedian solutions (press release, Feb. 09).
Several marquee 2009 clients signal continued growth through the years ahead, with long-term deployments forecasted at Tier-1 mobile and wireline operators, such as one contract addressing 25,000 3G cell sites throughout the U.S. With many large scale deployments underway, Accedian Networks’ automated management platforms are now helping providers to quickly deploy, monitor, maintain and assure their new services. The company’s unique Plug & Go™ technology, which provisions services within minutes of unit install, is one unique feature operators have been quick to adopt.
“Our continued innovation and focus on packet performance assurance has resonated with our customers and the global need for assured bandwidth. As a result we support the most advanced and agile service providers today,” explained Patrick Ostiguy, President & CEO of Accedian Networks. “Our solutions offer capabilities missing in most switches and cellular base stations. We’ve listened carefully to operators and built solutions that efficiently address their needs. Our units’ unique Fast-Thru™ technology offers the processing power required to deliver service performance with assurance.”
Accedian Networks’ solutions will be demonstrated live at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the CTIA show in Las Vegas, COMPTEL Spring, CEBIT and a number of other shows in the coming months. Full event details are available on Accedian.com, Twitter.com/accedian, and at Accedian.com/facebook.
