Samsung Plans LTE Market Share Moves

Samsung has but eight commercial Long Term Evolution 4G deployments now, but also has 30 pilot contracts, according to IP Hong, Samsung’s VP of marketing.

By the end of 2012, he said, it will catch up to Ericsson AB and Nokia Siemens Networks , and climb past Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. , Alcatel-Lucent and ZTE Corp. to become the segment’s number-three supplier.

And, by the way, Samsung plans to do so solely on the strength of internal sales, not an acqusition. Samsung LTE ambitions

Tellabls Mobile Backhaul Supports 10 Gbps

The latest version of the Tellabs 8600 mobile backhaul system supports a new Ethernet-based switching and routing architecture, in addition to IP-VPN and multiservice capabilities.

The new Ethernet architecture provides up to 80 percent savings with 10 Gbps interfaces and up to 76 percent savings with Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.

Tacqua Shows Non Line of Sight Backhaul System

Taqua’s W-Series™ non line of sight “Wireless Backhaul System” provides flexible, high capacity backhaul for small cell sites.

Each small cell site is connected to the Taqua Remote Module via a standard Ethernet connection. Two to four Remote Modules connect using a shared NLOS wireless link to a Taqua “Hub Module.” The Hub connects using wired Ethernet to the carrier’s existing network and can be located at a macro site or anywhere connectivity is available.

Taqua’s W-Series of NLOS products are tier-one service provider field tested and available for deployment. In field testing, the system has provided more than 70 Mbps bandwidth.
